Colostrai Lagoon (Muravera)

About 40 minutes from Escalaplano, the Colostrai lagoon is one of the finest brackish lakes in Sardinia, separated from the sea by a thin strip of sand. Flamingos, herons and cormorants inhabit it year-round. It is not a beach in the conventional sense, but a nature area of great charm, accessible by following the Sarrabus coastal road.

Muravera and Costa Rei beaches

Escalaplano is about 35–40 km from the beaches of Muravera and Costa Rei, among the finest in southern Sardinia. Fine white sand, crystal-clear water and shallow seabeds make it ideal for families. Costa Rei is famous for its kilometres of near-continuous shoreline where the sea shifts from turquoise to deep blue.
