Cortes Apertas

The beating heart of the Ogliastra autumn: the private courtyards of Villagrande open their gates and welcome visitors with exhibitions of local craftsmanship, tastings of typical products, traditional music and demonstrations of ancient trades. An event that transforms the village into a living museum of Barbagia-Ogliastra culture, with particular focus on the values of longevity and tradition.

Dates to be confirmed each year

Feast of Saint James the Apostle

The village's main patron saint festival, featuring religious processions in traditional costume, a solemn mass, tenore singing performances and Sardinian dances. The streets of the historic centre fill with stalls selling local produce, and the scent of freshly baked pane carasau mingles with that of Cannonau wine.

Dates to be confirmed each year

Blue Zone Day

A day dedicated to celebrating and sharing the secrets of Ogliastra longevity, with scientific conferences, meetings with the village's centenarians, traditional cooking workshops and guided Cannonau tastings. The event attracts researchers, journalists and enthusiasts from around the world.

Dates to be confirmed each year

Transhumance and Shepherding Festival

A re-enactment of the ancient transhumance routes that still mark the calendar and collective memory of Villagrande. Shepherds in costume lead flocks through the streets of the village, accompanied by traditional music and the distribution of fresh and aged pecorino cheeses. A living tribute to the pastoral identity that underpins local longevity.
