Thanks to important protection and reintroduction projects managed by the Forestas agency, today it is common to hear the deer bellowing in autumn or spot majestic specimens grazing undisturbed in the forest clearings at dawn and dusk.

The forest is characterized by one of the largest primary holm oak forests in Europe, with monumental trees creating a dense canopy of shade, keeping the undergrowth cool and damp even during hot Sardinian summer days.

The forest is crossed by a network of easy and well-kept trails, making it the ideal destination for families and for those who wish to walk immersed in the silence of wild nature without facing prohibitive elevation gains.

One of the most popular paths is the flat trail that leads from the visitor center to the spring of s'Urbargiu, ideal for cooling off with pure water flowing directly from the rock. Along the way, educational panels allow you to discover endemic plant species and the fauna that inhabits the area.
