Seui: The Stone Mining Village of Barbagia de Seulo

Seui is a charming mountain village located on the border between Ogliastra and Barbagia de Seulo. Characterized by beautiful architecture of gray schist and dark stone houses with wrought iron balconies, the town preserves an old-world atmosphere. Unlike other centers in the area, Seui's history was deeply influenced by the mining epic between the late 19th and the first half of the 20th century, an industrial past that left unique traces on the town's social and urban fabric.

The Liberty Palace and the Ancient Spanish Jail The historical heritage of Seui is protected and promoted by an integrated museum system comprising five sites of exceptional interest:

• The Liberty Palace (Palazzina Liberty): Built in 1905, it was the administrative headquarters of the mining companies that managed the coal deposits of Fundu 'e Corongiu. It retains original furnishings, historical documents, and is a rare example of Art Nouveau architecture in the heart of mountainous Sardinia.
• The Spanish Jail (Carcere Spagnolo): Dating back to 1647, this baronial prison remained active until the last century. Its austere rooms, torture instruments, and graffiti left by inmates on the stone walls offer a raw and fascinating testimony to Aragonese feudal justice.
• Casa Farci: The birthplace of the writer and politician Filiberto Farci, now transformed into a museum that tells the bourgeois life of 20th-century Sardinia and houses the Civic Art Gallery.
